OECD 217: Soil microorganisms (carbon transformation test)
Soil microorganisms: a carbon transformation test is a long-term assessment of the effects of a test chemical on the carbon transformation activity of soil microorganisms. Soil samples are divided into test and control groups, and mixed with glucose at 7-day intervals to assess glucose-induced respiration. If a significant enough difference (>25 %) exists in respiration rates after 28 days, the test may be continued for up to an additional 72 days.
